In principle, it is said that in jewellery, stones almost entirely cover the metal, while in the work of a goldsmith, gold is much more apparent.
In my opinion, it is not only a question of style. The way of working is very different. In Paris, in jewellery, for each specific task, a specialist is involved in order to obtain the most perfect result possible. A jewel of excellence. The goldsmith makes his jewelry from A to Z which does not allow him, despite his talent, sometimes quite remarkable, to reach the exceptional level of execution of the specialists. It is therefore understandable that the world of jewellery is very compartmentalized, with many people involved in a single piece. To name but a few: draughtsman, model maker, developer, foundryman, jeweller, polisher, setter, engraver, bead threader… All in its female version too, of course. Since the beginning of the millennium, our profession has become much more feminized.
Thanks to the long tradition of French jewellery, we benefit from a great know-how of jewellery in Paris. The major houses on Place Vendôme maintain a dense network of highly qualified craftsmen in Paris within the city walls. Thus, small houses, such as mine, can also benefit from this know-how.
